在学习和工作中我曾经历过巨大的压力,也试着用各种办法调整自己来减轻压力。最终我发现,好好利用业余时间是个办法。业余时间对我来说是不可或缺的。否则,我肯定会要发疯的。我的大部分业余时间都用于读书,听音乐,跟生活中的朋友交谈,或者跟网上遇到的人聊天。我真的很喜欢在外面找一个安静的地方读沃尔特?惠特曼和罗伯特?弗洛斯特的诗歌或著作。如果我没有时间做这些,那我也干不好别的事情。读书放松的同时,听音乐对我来说也是很重要的。如果我情绪低落,我就听慢悠悠的歌,如果我心情高兴,我就听快节奏的歌。音乐是人类共同的语言,能表达不同的情感。音乐能触及灵魂,确切地说,我认为音乐表达的实际上就是心灵的感受。

生活中的朋友和网上的朋友都是我业余时间和社交生活的一部分。朋友对我来说总是重要的。不论我做什么,他们都是我的支柱。不论我处于什么情况,我的好朋友们总是支持着我。没有他们,我不可能过着健康的心态平衡的生活。不久之前,我经历了一小段时间的失意。手头所有的工作都没有进展,也不再跟朋友们谈心。就这样过了一个礼拜,我的一个好朋友将我拉到一边,邀我跟她出去散步。我们谈到我的情况,她帮我一起分析我到底想干什么。真不知道如果她不在我身边,我会怎么样。

许多事情都有助于你调节心态。压力是一种十分危险而又累人的经历,往往是消沉和不幸的开始。但如果真有了压力,你应该做点什么而不光是等待,比如跟朋友说说,或是听听音乐。这样你也许就会觉得自己不该这么沮丧,这么心事重重。

在生活中,保持心态平衡是很重要的。要是心态失衡,每一天的生活都将是难熬的。大胆创新地利用业余时间将起到决定性的作用。

Unit4 A篇 玛塞娜的工作经历

进大学不久我就下定决心,在进入"现实世界"前先到国外呆一段。四年级的时候,我的大多数同学都在忙着为"现实世界"的工作面试,我却在研究怎么才能去另外一个国家工作。刚开始打听的时候,我对去哪儿,干什么都很随便。我就是很想出国,让我干什么都行。 不久我就听说了一个叫"北美学生英国大学俱乐部"的计划,像是专为想出国工作的学生制定的。它给在读或是刚毕业的学生提供工作签证,让他们能到海外工作。因为语言相通和找工作容易的关系,在六个可供选择的国家中我选择了英国。

毕业两个月后我横渡大西洋,到伦敦之前花六个礼拜把整个欧洲跑了一遍。1997年8月24日,我带着一张工作签证来到伦敦,但却没有工作,也没地方可住。我得承认那确实挺让人害怕的!到的第二天,我度过了我的第一个英国假日--银行休假日。这是个全国性的假日,到处关门歇业。直到第三天,我才去了"北美学生英国大学俱乐部"的办事处,熟悉了一下情况。在此过程中,我了解到一切有关在英国生活工作的细节。我知道了该怎么逛街,怎么写英国式的履历,交税,买健康保险,旅游,找住的地方,最重要的是,怎么找份工作。我最关心怎么找工作,因为我所带的钱已所剩无几,得尽快弄一份薪水。

事实证明找工作就像写履历一样简单!"北美学生英国大学俱乐部"计划在伦敦很有知名度,许多雇主都加入了这项计划。因此很多领域都有许多工作机会可供选择。我找工作的时候,我选择了三个不同的雇主,将自己的简历和附函传真给了他们。第一个星期我进行了三场面试,接受了我的第一个工作机会,为美林银行工作。我在美林的办公室是在一幢漂亮古老的楼房里,离白金汉宫只有两个街区。那儿的人都很友好,工作也很有意思。

适应伦敦的生活并非难事。不光如此,这儿值得一看的东西太多了。我在这儿呆了六个月,可能只走了一半我打算要去的地方。

B篇 独立生活

我第一次决定离开家是在高中二年级的时候。那时我与父母相处不是很融洽。兜里装着大约一百美元,我就想着要离家出走。刚离开家三个星期,我便开始想家了。与父母一起生活完全不同于独立生活。说独立生活是一种完全不同的经历,主要有三个原因: 更具责任感,更有决策权,以及更多的创造性。

首先,明白了独立生活更需要责任感。我的父母常会分配给我一些几乎每天都必须完成的工作。只要没有完成分配给我的工作,我就会受到责骂。但是现在我独自生活了,我必须完成自己的职责,即使没有人要求我这么做。一旦没有完成,我就得独自承担相应后果。

对我来说,独立生活的另一个经验就是,现在我有更多的决策权了。现在我独自生活,父母没在身边,不能给我建议,因此我不得不更加小心谨慎了。既然现在我是独立的了,就必须自己做决定。比如,我必须在不伤害任何人的感情和不受父母的支配的情况下,做出最好的决策。

因此,通过独立生活我变得更具有创造力。我能设计自己的未来。我制定了自己要遵守的规则。我用木工工具, 设计制作自己房间里的所有家具。我写了许多歌曲, 并把它们保存在我的笔记本里,等着送给感兴趣的歌手。这对我而言是一个很好的经历,因为我常认为有创造力是世上最美好的事物。然而,当我和父母在一起的时候,我觉得自己之所以很难有创造力,就是因为我老是跟着他们的想法跑。

很小的时候我就发现,在电话里什么地方住着一个神奇的人——“信息台”,她无所不知。

初次与这个人邂逅是妈妈不在家的一天。我在工具凳旁玩耍,锤子砸伤了我的手指。痛得不得了,但没有人来安慰我。我在屋里走来走去,不住地吮着阵阵作痛的手指,最后走到了电话机旁!

我飞快摘下了听筒,贴在耳朵上。“信息台吗?”我冲着话筒说道。咔嗒两声后,耳边响起了一个细小清晰的声音。

“信息台。”

“我弄伤了手指„„”我哭喊着。因为有个人听我倾诉,泪水一下子就涌了出来。

“妈妈不在家吗?”

“家里除了我没有外人,”我抽泣着说。

“流血了吗?”

“没有,我用锤子砸伤了手指,好痛。”

“你会开冰箱吗?”她问。我说,会。

“那你铲一小块冰下来,敷在手指上。”

从此以后,凡事我都打电话找“信息台”。我向她请教地理作业或数学题。

作为一种资源,国际互联网中包含了大量的信息。它覆盖面广,上网容易,提供的信息量几乎是无穷无尽的。作为获取知识的一个卓越的来源,网络正在领导着一场‘信息革命’。网络已经为世界带来巨大的变革,这种变革还在继续。要是你马上就需要最新的信息的话,除了网络你和少有其他选择。

在过去的12年中,我一直在参与技术研究。最初,我从文字参考资料中获取软件信息,后来我从光盘获取信息。网络作为一种研究工具的出现,极大地拓展知识的获取的范围,大大地降低了我们在每一项工作上所耗费的时间。

在网络上我花了大部分时间查询计算机技术信息,我把这些信息用在微软应用课堂上并在工作上提出技术性建议。工作之余,我对金融界的很多领域非常感兴趣,网络成了我的这个爱好的重大信息源。

我不能想象没有网络的日子将会怎样。尽管筛选各种信息需要花费时间,但经过多年的使用后,我发现我能快速地分析搜寻的结果并找到最合适的网址。网上的信息量多得让人难以置信,所以重要的是得记住自己要搜寻的目标而不要偏离主题。

当你能证实网上所提供的信息是准确无误的时候,网络便是一个伟大的资料库。就像其他的资源一样,网络既有好的信息,同时也有不好的信息。根据你所搜寻的目标,你可以自己判断这些资料是否相关。重要的是,不要相信你所查阅的所有东西,尽量避开个人网站,并设法先弄清楚谁是该网站的负责人,然后再接受它提供的信息。

作为女性自愿者,通常我对穿制服并不感兴趣,但是自从我穿上悉尼奥运会志愿者服以后,我就感到自己是一项非常重要,非常宏大赛事中的一员,这种经历我一生中难得再有第二次。我很快就融入到了穿同样制服的人员行列中,我们穿着色彩靓丽的外衣走在大街上迎面相遇时,我们微笑点头,互致问后。这一声声祝愿在两周的奥运期间时时都在耳边萦绕。

我是新闻中心总部的主管,要经管800名记者的办公桌、电话、电视机以及别的志愿者,他们中有许多是学大众传媒的学生。中心是一天24小时连续运转,我们每班要干8个钟头,而且常常是通宵达旦,因工作既重要又令人振奋,我们一般不得不延长工作时间。没有我们的工作,记者们就不可能把他们的文章发回到国内的新闻部的办公桌上,有关体育健儿成功亦或失败的消息将不会为世人所知。 (A_6)作为志愿者,我们都感到我们的工作对奥运会的成功作出了贡献,因而我们都为我们获得的称赞而欣喜不已。我们努力工作同时也有乐趣;我们结交了世界各地的朋友,学到了终生受益的新技能。

B篇 志愿者

2006年都灵冬奥会志愿者的招聘方案提前3年公布。

2006年,意大利的都灵市将举行冬奥会。组委会将招募志愿者来完成许多重要任务。为弘扬奥运精神,都灵市率先发起了“青年2006”的活动,对象是到2006年满18到25岁的青少年。其目的是从现在起就让都灵市的年轻人行动起来,并通过适当培训让他们成为都灵的“大使”:即文化大使,也作为和平和友谊的大使。作为这项大型运动盛会的志愿者,他们也会被视为这些大使中的一员。

不限年龄的大军

奥运成功,其中一个重要因素就是志愿军团,他们用自己的热忱和奉献精神,确保每个环节正常运转,确保运动健儿们和观众在此期间过得轻松愉快。无论组委会的工作人员安排如何周密,没有志愿人员的帮助,这大型的体育盛事就无法进行。志愿人员充分体现奥运精神,他们在许多活动中提供服务,例如到机场和火车站迎接客人,在比赛场地提供保安服务,协助餐饮服务并参与行政管理,销售门票和驾驶迎送车辆,多种多样,不一而足。各种才能都能派上用途。正是这个原因,志愿人员没有年龄限制,在有些方面,退休人员和家庭主妇比年轻人还多。

懂外语是基本要求

要成为奥运会的志愿者,有3条基本要求:至少18岁,能说英语(还懂其他外语则更具优势),有服务精神。你不必是居住在比赛当地的居民。当然,那些自小在都灵出生和长大的人,由于熟悉都灵及其周边的山峦,因此能更好地陪同运动员们度过比赛之余的闲暇时光和参与组织文化活动。

不过,那些来自异国他乡的人也能加入志愿军团。奥运会是跨国盛会,人人都应该有机会参与这一活动。大家都知道,除了食宿和“工作服”之外,志愿者是没有报酬的,但是亲自参与并直接体验这一世界上最激动人心的体育盛事却是件了不起的事儿。

哥伦比亚大学工程学院二年级学生索菲亚?斯黛拉,是众多以各种方式在校参与研究工作的学生之一。这些学生有的是为了拿学分,有的是为了挣钱,还有的就是为了多一份经历。老师和学生都认为,大学生从事研究工作对师生双方都有特别的好处。

B篇 创造性模仿

我有个小儿子,我注意到他每天都在学些新东西。没过多久我就发现他在观察我,之后我做什么他就会学着做什么。就用这种简单的办法他学会了走路、跑步、开门、爬楼梯。他做这些事情从不完全学我的样子,而是加进自己创造的特色,我把他的这种学习方法称作创造性模仿。

创造性模仿让我实现了参加职业网球巡回赛的目标。我用几种方法创造性的模仿那些职业锦标赛的胜利者。我通读了在图书馆和书店里能找到的每一本有关网球的书。我仔细研究每一本过期的网球杂志,寻找各种关于网球技术的文章;我在电视上观看职业选手的比赛;我把职业网球比赛实况进行录像并反复播放,有时候还要用慢镜头播放;我还去现场看职业比赛。边学边观察,将绝大部分心得写在日记里。我记的日记有好几本,还做了上千的索引卡片。这些笔记帮助我将看到的用于实践。就这样,我从一个二流大学网球队的三流选手变成一个小型职业比赛的夺冠者。创造性模仿使我找到了学习网球技术的最好办法。

获得博士学位不久,我又打算开办一个业余行当--开学习班。又是创造性模仿帮助我来实现我的目标。1985年初我买了一台电脑,这是我向商界过渡的第一步。我再一次竭尽全力学习如何在工作中使用这台电脑。订阅电脑期刊,学习使用电子制表软件、数据库、文字处理、制图、桌面排版系统以及大纲处理软件。我记下书本上的或是我自己思考的以及从发表的文章里得来的几乎每一个想法。我成为了一名兼职电脑硬软件经销商和顾问。

因为有了这些软件技术,我开始自信自己能做更大的生意。我意识到我能管个大企业,有许多同事、顾客、物资和产品。1988年,我向公众开放了学习班业务,非常成功,所以我在1989年能够永远舍弃传统教育这一行。几年以后,原本只有我一个人的家庭行业发展成了一个大集团公司,至少培养了11,000名成人学习电脑和商务技术。

即使两年以后,你可能几乎完全忘却了大学一年级时候的室友,在体育馆门口碰到时也几乎认不出他们,但是大学第一年和这一年所带给你的全新感觉却是绝对无法替代的。

第一年过后,很多东西都会改变。遇到新朋友,尝试新事物。你会在成长过程中经历更多的事情。

她最喜欢红玫瑰,她的名字也叫"玫瑰"。每年丈夫都会用漂亮的蝴蝶结扎上一束美丽的玫瑰送给她。丈夫去世的那一年,玫瑰依旧送到了她的门前。像以往的每年一样,玫瑰中的卡片上写着:"献给我心爱的人。"

每一年他送玫瑰,卡片上都会写着:"我爱你一年胜似一年",或"我对你的爱将与日俱增"。丈夫去世的那年,她相信那将是最后一次玫瑰在门前出现。

她想丈夫一定是在这天以前提前预定了玫瑰花。她亲爱的丈夫并不知道自己会离她而去。他总习惯把事情提前办好,大大早于预定日期。这样一来,就算他很忙,事情也会进展顺利。
